How to Resize a Graphic Image
by Tim Campbell, editor
Y
You inserted an image into your document and it's much too big. How can you resize it without distorting or cropping any of the image? There's two ways to do it and they're both quite simple.

The click & drag method

1. Open your document and click on the image

2. Click and drag one of the corner sizing handles
Sizing handles are the eight little squares that appear on the edge of a selected graphic. By using the corner handles, the image will be resized in proportion. If you use one of the other sizing handles, the image will be distorted one way or the other. Keep in mind that enlarging a bitmap image may cause it to appear blurry when printed (see resolution for more information).

3. Deselect the image
You're done!

The exact method

1. Open your document and click on the graphic

2. Go to the "Format" menu and select "Picture"

3. Select the "Size" tab

4. Change the values in the boxes for your desired size
if you want the image to remain in proportion, make sure that "Lock aspect ratio" is checked. Check "Relative to original picture size" to set new size percentages in relation to the original size of the image instead of the image's current size. You can click "Reset" to start from the image's original size.

5. Click "OK" and you're done
If you're not crazy about the result, you can return to the "Picture" menu and adjust the settings or go to the "Edit" menu and choose "Undo." slug
