Adding a Logo Watermark with Ease
by Tim Donnelly, guest writer
A
Awatermark (an image or text printed lightly in the background of a document) can add a bit of distinction to an otherwise boring document. You can add a logo, a relevant image or a simple design element. It easy to do and takes no time at all.

1. Open your document, go to the "View" menu and select "Header and Footer"
The Header and Footer toolbar will appear

2. Go to the "Insert" menu, pull down to "Picture" and select "From File"
A navigation window will appear. For more on how to import an image, click here. Resize the image as needed (click here to find out how). It doesn't matter if the image is included in the document's header or footer.

3. Click on the image, go to the "Format" menu and choose "Picture" (or "Object")

4. Choose the "Position" tab and check "Float Over Text"
You can use the "Position on page" values to move the picture around on the page

5. Choose the "Wrapping" tab and select "None"

6. Choose the "Picture" tab and select "Watermark" from the "Color" menu
You can adjust the intensity (brightness and contrast) of the image by using the "Image control" options.

7. Click "OK" and click "Close" on the Header & Footer toolbar.
Be sure to print a sample document with your watermark to ensure that all of the text that prints over it is still legible. It's best to choose artwork or logos without a lot of detail. slug
