Changing Your Point of View

here are different ways to look at something and that certainly goes for Word documents as well. The best view for you really depends on what sort of tasks you're performing. But, keep in mind that your document will print the same regardless of which view you're using. Here are the choices for your "viewing pleasure:"
Normal View
This view is the default setting for Word. Your typing area fills the screen though you'll still notice the ruler and tab settings at the top of the page. This is basically a "no-frills" setting (as you won't see headers, footers, inserted graphics, etc.) and is best for simple text entry and typing. You can get to this view by pressing the "Control," "Alt" and "N" keys on your keyboard or by using the "View" menu.
Web Layout (or Online) View
This view shows how a document will look when displayed in a Web browser. In this view, you can display backgrounds, graphics, hyperlinks, animation and more. You can get to this view by using the "View" menu.
Print Layout (or Page Layout) View
In this view, you'll be able to see and edit your documents exactly how they'll appear when you print them. Your inserted or linked graphics will be in place and you'll be able to see headers, footers and AutoShapes as well. This view is a bit more memory intensive and may cause scrolling to be a bit "jerky" and typing to be a bit slow. You can get to this view by pressing the "Control," "Alt" and "P" keys on your keyboard or by using the "View" menu.
Outline View
This view is ideal for setting-up and reorganizing long documents, like a speech or presentation. By using Word's Outline Levels and Heading Styles (visible as a toolbar in Outline View), you'll be able to break up your document into sections and then easily move them around until you're happy with the way that your document reads and flows. You can get to this view by pressing the "Control," "Alt" and "O" keys on your keyboard or by using the "View" menu.
